In 2006 ProParques was born as a result of the actions of a group of professionals, academics, conservationists and business people, concerned for the state of national park and their sustainability.
Park Rangers: Professionalization for park rangers and offering the necessary tools to ensure they can give good service to protected areas. For example: First Aid courses, English, geoferenciation (georeferencing??) training, uniforms, among others.
Visitors: Implement projects that generate the funding to improve the visitor’s experience to national parks. For example: Trails, bathrooms, and our completely new membership system “Friends of Costa Rican National Parks” through which tourists acquire membership online that not only allows admission to national parks affiliated with the program by presenting their membership card to obtain discounts in businesses affiliated with the program.
Thanks to the vision and determination of a group who loves nature, Proparques has positioned itself as an organization that tirelessly looks to improve national parks and the conditions for park rangers and visitors.
