Aware that people are agents of change, ProParques was given the task of identifying leading officials in different areas of conservation, with the goal of financing the implementation of their projects.
In 2009-2010, 11 projects were funded and currently 7 initiatives are being funded that include many different programs. In the past georeferencing projects were promoted in the Corcovado, Braulio Carillo and Cangreja National Parks, proper solid and organic waste management in the Coco Island National Park and Hitoy Cerere Biological Reserve. These initiatives focus on the visitor experience as is the case of improvements that will be done on the trails of the Chirripó, Corcovado and Tortuguero National Parks.
