“Amigos de los Parques Nacionales” Program – December 2007 - present

Amigos de los Parques Nacionales of Costa Rica is a volunteer member program created by ProParques, Fundecor and SINAC, whose purpose is to improve the visitor’s experience in the national parks and to ensure that the Park Rangers are better prepared and have the necessary equipment to do their job.

The goal of the program is to offer people, organizations and businesses the unsurpassable opportunity to show their commitment to the sustainability of Protected Wildlife Areas. All of the resources generated by volunteer donations are destined to the professionalization of field staff, offering continual trainings, uniforms and adequate equipment, as well as improving the visitor’s experience by enhancing the infrastructure, trail signs and interpretation, among others.

Amigos Parques Nacionales Membership: We have a personal membership system for nationals and residents (Lapa & Jaguar) and visitors from other countries (Morfo, Tortuga & Jaguar). All the memberships are annual, except for Morfo which is 14 days.

Corporate Partners: Businesses and Organizations that share our passion for protected areas.  The founding partners Bosque Tropical are 100 organizations and businesses with a strong social and environmental commitment that supports National Park Friends, donating $1000 per year. The Guaria Partners are businesses that support the program offering discounts or gifts to members that present their membership card.
